Advice & Tips From Past Brides

Updated: Feb 8, 2023

Recently I asked some of my past brides to pass on as much advice on to you as they could about selecting their flannel sets and boy DID 👏 THEY 👏 DELIVER 👏!

Here's what five past customers shopping for their weddings had to say:

Lisa

"I gave the ladies a color scheme to stick to and let them pick out their own flannels. Some gave me multiple choices so I used the cart to see how they all looked together and picked what matched best." -Lisa

Something else to note about Lisa's order: she placed multiple orders over a couple weeks to ensure she got the flannels she wanted. I'm sure it had to do with how quickly her bridesmaids got back to her, but it was still a great way to make sure she got what she wanted before someone else bought them.

Bridget

"I gave my bridesmaids the size guide and they told me what size they wanted. Some wanted oversized and others wanted snug. I did a neutral (for the bride), put my MOH in our main color and all my bridesmaids in our accent color." -Bridget

Bridget purchased her flannels all at once and utilized her account wishlist instead of the cart to narrow down her selection. You need to create an account for the wishlist function but it's much easier to move from your phone to computer and keep your same flannel selections. If you wanted to buy your set in smaller chunks like Lisa did, you can also save payment options in the account feature.

Kaitlyn

"I was SO thankful that you offer options based on the information provided to you. Having somewhat of a 'shopping list' made my life so much easier! I narrowed down my options in the cart after following your suggestions pretty closely with a few changes here/there based on the inventory at that time. I also created an account to make the shopping & checkout process easier!" -Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn's bridesmaids did not choose their flannels but instead were a surprise in a gift bag she put together for each of them. She also said she didn't feel the need to stand out and have a solid colored flannel, instead she wanted a pattern to blend in with everyone. She recommends doing whatever feels most comfortable for you!

Kaitlyn added this picture along with all the sizes she needed in a Flannel Recommendation Request form, a form you can fill out to ask for my help putting together a set based on your color palette, the sizes you need and what is currently in my inventory. Flannels move quickly so you may have to do what Kaitlyn did and make adjustments when you decide to make your purchase, and based on what my inventory looks like at the time. A few days later I sent her back three different options, along with an explanation on how I sorted my inventory and a link to that filtered inventory. Here's what my three suggestions looked like and what she purchased (scrolling gallery):

Julia

"I kept the flannels a 'secret' but asked each girl what size they wear when wanting something oversized. I sent you pictures and you sent a bunch of great options. My maid of honor looked through the options with me and we decided which color was best for each person. Then I requested everyone bring black leggings to wear when getting ready." -Julia

Julia has been a huge supporter of mine and she dropped some great advice. Asking your bridesmaids to bring black leggings is a great way to save money while still getting a cohesive look. You can do the same thing with other clothing like a solid (no writing or pictures) colored t-shirt or tank to wear underneath their flannel that matches your colors; this brings the mismatched look to a whole other level! It'll also be fun to see what your friends interpretations of that color are.

Katie

"I know my girls are all roughly the same size and if it was a little large that would be okay. I found one flannel I liked that was smaller and double checked with the smallest bridesmaid that she liked it. For the others I gave them out based on what I felt they would like best but said they could trade if they wanted." -Katie

I've heard similar advice from other brides and think this is fabulous if you're able to do it ! Katie initially found some flannels she liked and purchased them, then waited for the next update to purchase more flannels that matched her colors. Shipping is always free so purchasing sets in "chunks" is always an option to make sure you don't miss out on those gems when you see them.

HUGE shoutout to the brides that helped make this blog post happen! Remember that sharing is caring so if you have any tips, tricks, advice or overall suggestions for other brides PLEASE drop them in the comments!! I couldn't do this without you 🧡
